Oliver Wood and Penelope Clearwater stood outside the Ministry, near the front-most secret entry. Penny had been a bit nervous, and had spent the morning worrying over what to wear. Oliver slid his hand into Penny's small one. He looked down at his girlfriend, who was looking stunning in a short, sparkly green dress. He himself had gone for a suit with a green tie, and fancied himself looking fine. He brought Penny's delicate hand to his lips, and gave it a gentle kiss. "You look perfect," he said to her quietly. She turned to him, her eyebrows furrowed in worry, eyes bright. "And you'll be fine. You're an amazing dancer," he said with a wide grin.
"It's not that, you big dope. I...I just don't...I've never walked into something like this with a famous Quiddich player, now have I?" she said, her eyes wide with fear. "Don't be silly Penny, no one will even noticed me with you there," he said, taking a moment to run his hand through her long hair. "Well, we shouldn't keep the charity event public waiting. Clearly we're the life of the party," he said with a wide grin. Penny groaned and rolled her eyes, but took his arm and the pair made their way inside to the party.
Walking inside, Oliver was impressed by the decor. He may be a Scotsman himself, but he didn't let that distract him from enjoying a holiday centered around drinking and having a good time. He saw Penny smile at the clovers overhead, and turned his face towards the ceiling to take in the full effect himself. "Well, I'm feeling lucky. I fancy a muggle Guiness, I think. What can I get you, darling?" Penny ordered a butter beer, and wandered over to talk to some friends from the former Flourish and Blotts. Oliver ordered his drinks and watched her as he waited for the drinks to come. My he was lucky, he thought. He felt like tonight would be a special night.
