"Spikes huh? Well, they would be awful large spikes, they might scare small children," Parvati said with a laugh. She stopped her giggle though, at George's non-committal answer. He seemed to have more on his mind than he was sharing, though she wasn't sure it was quite her place to pry. He was lovely, and this was lovely, but their physical intimacy didn't mean he had to share with her mentally. She didn't respond for a moment, hoping he would elaborate on his own, but thought better of it.
"I don't wish to pry, George," she said softly. "I have no right to your private thoughts. But...we may be just friends, but that doesn't mean that you can't share more. I know-this year has been hard on you. I can't even imagine it. But I can feel your pain; maybe lessen it? I don't know," she said, shaking her head.
