Who: Hannah Abbott and Luna Lovegood Where: St. Mungo's When: Saturday, late morning What: A visit and a gift delivery for Luna. Rating: S, for whomever tries to say "I'm sorry" more.
Before anything, the truth: for anyone who was injured, Hannah would visit and bring a gift basket. In fact, she had one for Charlie for this very day! It's just that Hannah's massive guilt surrounding Luna meant...well...that Hannah was bringing a basket that was roughly the size of the Titanic. And possibly the iceberg that hit it, too. She felt horrible: for Luna to lose her father and then get injured must feel like being stabbed and then punched. Hannah would know: it happened to her.
But Hannah didn't have to deal with a good friend yanking her crush out from underneath her, too. In her whole life, Hannah had never really hurt a person. She couldn't even stomach the idea. It's why she was so damned stressed out about her relationship with Neville, knowing that in a heartbeat, she could hurt him because he loved her, so guilelessly, so plainly. But her relationship had hurt Luna, and that knowledge sank deep in her like a tar pit. She had to try to make things right. Somehow.
So the basket, borne of compassion and love and empathy but also a good dose of guilt, led the way into Luna's hospital room, so large that Hannah was hidden from the waist up. "Hi, Luna!" Hannah's voice chirped from behind it. "Can I visit for a minute?"
What if Luna said no? What if Luna told her to get out? Get out, crush stealer! Just the thought of it made Hannah's pulse start to race dangerously. Oh, Merlin...maybe she should have owled this...
