No one really wants anyone to be a hero. Not according to his dad anyway. It’s always if you see someone being attacked, don’t be an idiot and walk over trying to help, call the police. When someone comes up and asks for your money, you don’t question it, you hand it over and be on your way. Seamus’ dad even admitted that when the whole world’s ending, no one’s looking to help anyone, they’ve all got their feet tucked up underneath themselves, they’re all kissing their own ass goodbye. Seamus isn’t helping anyone. He’s rooted to the damn spot from where he first started. His wand is in his hand, but he isn’t using it. He’s frozen and if someone glanced his way, they probably thought he had just been stunned. His dad’s words are running through his head, ‘Don’t be a hero, son. No one really wants to be a hero.’ He considered it and he knew it was right, who really wanted to risk their life everyday just to call themselves that? They were deranged, they were idiots and Seamus was pretty sure he was going to piss himself soon.
Something cracked over his head and for the first time since arriving he moved. He fell to the ground and crawled away. Down the hall, to the first room he could find. His hand reached up to open the door and once he had it opened, he crawled over and got under the desk, because when the whole world was exploding they all told you to get under a desk. Not for your safety, because when one of those muggle bombs exploded -- nothing was left, but for you own damn self preservation. If you’re under the impression you’re safe, maybe you damn well are! Seamus wasn’t going to question it, he even dropped his wand. He could hear the walls exploding from impact around him, but he wouldn’t move, he wouldn’t get up. He was kissing his own ass goodbye and praying that if he got out of here, he would be a better person.
The sounds dull, but Seamus didn’t move, he was too throughly convinced that everyone had blown each other up and he didn’t exactly want to see all his friends with their insides as their outsides. He did make a note to watch less zombie apocalypse movies that his father rented out for him, though.
