"You're a liar," Zacharias said, but he left it at that, because who knew where the conversation would go if they continued that path. Instead he took up her question about him drowning his sorrows. That was more or less what he was doing. She didn't need to know that, however.
He turned to her. "No, not drowning my sorrows. Just having a drink after a rough night. I got one of those owls." Before she was able to berate him for being a moron and opening it (despite knowing he was), Zacharias said, "It looked like my sister's owl. I was expecting something from her, anyway."
