It had been a nightmare. The morning hadn’t started unusually; Megan had been sitting in her room, working on her Charms essay when an owl had arrived carrying a parcel that afternoon. Curious, she’d read the note, and curiosity had gotten the better of her as she reached for the jar. The instant she’d touched it, the jar had exploded sending shards of glass, blood and muck in all directions. The flying glass shards had left deep lacerations across Megan’s hands with various imbedded slivers. Shocked, it had taken several minutes for Megan to finally make her way to the toilet in order to clean herself. It hadn’t been easy, but as she attempted to scrub herself clean, it became more and more difficult to distinguish between the blood on her hands and her own blood.
After what had seemed like hours trying to clean her room, Megan had resorted to trying to seek help. The maids, try as they might, had been unable to help in the cleanup effort either. By the time Justin had arrived, Megan was clean, freshly plastered and crying in frustration. With the help of the staff, Justin and supplies provided by Neville, they somehow managed to clean things well enough. It had been difficult, but by then end of the day, Megan and Justin had managed to arrange reasons for her parents to go away for a while. Megan hated having to hex her mother and father, but there had been no other way to get them out of the country. Preston had been easier, as her father rung him to announce their sudden, unexpected holiday. By the time Megan had collapsed into one of the spare beds next to Justin, she’d hoped sleep would come easily. Instead, the past few hours had replayed in Megan’s head over and over again as her mind tried to justify what had happened. Finally, out of sheer exhaustion, Megan had managed to get a few hours of sleep.
Waking up the following morning, even on the limited sleep, Megan had set about making the arrangements necessary to vacate the rest of the house before finally contacting the solicitor. It had been a difficult morning as she tried making last-minute arrangements for everything, pacing back and forth in her father's study as she spoke to her solicitor, her fathers solicitor and the board all whilst still in her pj's. Finishing her last phone call, Megan hung up the cordless and headed into the kitchen to try and find something to eat. The cook may not be there today, but surely she could find something.
