Sally had done it again. She was quite skilled at ruining a perfectly good mood. "I'm sorry," she felt the need to reply. "We should be able to have an evening out without being constantly reminded of the war." Sally wasn't even going to pretend that the situation was anything but. Even if war hasn't officially been declared, it was clear that was what was going on here.
"I'm sure it wasn't the best thing to write. I'm not really known for going out there an proclaiming my feelings on...these things." Sally had always tried to remain neutral. Never do or say anything that would make her a target. But she was starting to wonder if that even matter now. Silence would not protect her or anyone else.
"We shouldn't have to fight in the first place," she replied.
