Parvati had been anticipating her reaction, and somehow the slow, soft tone of her sister conveyed as much disappointment to her as shouting. She hated being seen as stupid or naive by her sister, the one person she cared for most in the world.
"Honestly, until I had already replied a few times, I did not know at all. Someone else told me who it was and I felt sick. He replied to such an innocuous message too, one I wouldn't have dreamed a DE would bother addressing. All I said was my heart went out to those who were suffering. Honest, Padma, I didn't know. I'm sorry," she said, a real regret evident in her face.
