Marietta shot out of her stool at the sight of her friend, and greeted her with an enthusiastic hug. "Oh dear lord, you have no idea how much I wanted to hear you say that. Sorry I wasn't outside, my feet were killing me, I had to come inside. My day was AWFUL. If I'm not bored to death answering owls and filling mum's cup, I'm doing something insane like sending 5,000 OWLS AT ONCE-" Marietta looked over at Cho, who looked tired, and realized her error. "Oh, I'm being awful, I haven't given you a word edgewise. Tell me, I've barely even talked to you since you've started at Magical Law Enforcement. Is it exciting? Are you catching dark wizards and all sorts of brilliant things?" She leaned forward on the bar to catch Tom the bartender's eye. She smiled demurely and signaled for a round of firewhiskeys for herself and her friend.
She turned around in her stool to face the bar while she listened to Cho. Mari might be self conscious, but she also had low self esteem that was bolstered by being in a bar, even if it was filled with unsavory characters. She leaned back, putting her elbows on the bar in what she thought was a carefree manner, and smiled at Cho. There now, wouldn't all the witches and wizards in the Cauldron find them just the most glamorous pair? She waited to hear about why Cho could possibly need a firewhiskey as bad as she did.
