Phillip had managed a smile, one of those rare ones that only the children tended to see. He was currently on duty and there was company, so he could hardly joke as he might have done under normal circumstances. When Justin then entered the parlour, Phillip proceeded to serve drinks as Charlotte welcomed Justin.
Glancing up toward Justin as he spoke, Megan's brows furrowed for a moment. Right. He'd wanted to talk to her about something. She'd been obsessed about it last night and after her busy morning had nearly forgotten. Oh, she hadn't forgotten that he'd promise to arrive early, just the reason for doing so. By the time she stood, Lia and Jane had already launched themselves across the room and attached themselves to Justin's legs. Trying not to laugh, Megan walked over.
"Darlings, let me have your brother for a moment, and you can cling to him later, deal?" Megan said, bending down slightly so she could speak to Justin's siblings. Straightening back up, she offered Justin a small smile. "We can go into the study if you like." Megan suggested, trying to ignore what she was sure were looks from her mum and Justin's.
