WHO: Penelope Clearwater and Oliver Wood
WHAT: Coffee at Fortescues with Oliver. Penny's not nervous. Much.
WHERE: Fortescue's / Diagon Alley
WHEN: Monday evening.
RATING: Unknown
The owl had said to meet Oliver at five but with a quick glance at her watch, Penny realised she still had another ten minutes to go. Pacing across the cobbles of Diagon she wondered if she ought to go into the bustling cafe or stick with the spot she'd claimed out on the street.
Penny shifted her weight to allow a woman and her family to pass by as the sun sunk a little lower in the sky. It as almost night-time and it was testimony to how nervous she was about meeting Oliver that her stomach was in knots over meeting the former Gryffindor than about being outside in the dark.
Penny brought her hands up to try and smoothe down her curls before tugging at the sleeves of her jumper nervously. The bruise cream she'd gotten from George had worked wonders (she'd tried it the day before because at the end of the day she'd taken too many points from him and his brother for their ingenious pranks to entirely trust a handwritten labelled jar) and her jumper covered the rest.
Why was she even doing this? It would only end in disaster - smart, funny, talented and good looking men did not women like her unless it was to ask for assistance getting a book. But he had been so sweet and attentive when she had been in St. Mungo's that it seemed wrong not to meet him. Eve if it was for just a few moments until Oliver realised who and hat she was, Penny could have the knowledge that someone like him found her worth spending time with.
He'd promised to tell her if she was babbling but Penny wondered if Oliver knew that his nerves were catching.
Four minutes to go.
