Mandy nodded, not saying anything for a moment. "I don't either." Mandy said finally. "Every time I get an owl, I kind of expect it to be from him." Another pause as Mandy tried to stop her eyes from tearing up, and her words caught in her throat. "It's not easy, I know Terry's been in pieces, though he's doing his best to cover it." She didn't need to add Mrs. Corner; as horrible as Mandy felt about all of this, she could only imagine that Michael's parents must be feeling 100 times worse.
Mandy lowered her hands to her lap, wringing them slightly. "I've tried the busy thing. It's not working very well, but I'm glad it's helping you." She ran her tongue over her lower lip as she glanced at her hands. "Lisa and Mo have been brill, are you spending time with them?"
