He could tell, Sally’s whole demeanor had chance since he had first sat down. He felt a little guilty for the loss of her smile and the anxiousness that had replaced it. He decided, it was probably best not to press the topic, even though there were questions still pressed up to the tip of his tongue, that he was curious for answers to. Food would be a good distraction, so he was happy when it finally arrived and let Sally take the first taste. But, it wasn’t long till he joined her.
He wasn’t sure what to bring up next. He didn’t want something to set her on edge again, so his plans to tease her slightly about accepting his mattress, would have to be saved for later. He did consider for a moment, that maybe, some light teasing would help and ended up going with the lighter teasing option, in efforts to annoy/distract her (he meant that in a kind and nice way, in a Justin and Sally way - of course).
“So, I’m not sure if you have or have not met out neighbour, the one who I said would offer you cookies upon arrival, the one I warned you strongly not to accept any type of cookies or bake goods from, but anyway, she invited me to her birthday party this week and I’m going to take you along with me. It’s not fair that I have to go through that torture alone.”
