The fourth floor of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries (the spell damage ward) had become Meaghan’s campground. Penny’s room, within the critical wing of the floor, had been transformed into something that resembled a bedroom rather then a hospital room, aside from the necessary medical equipment. She had hung curtains the color of lilac and tied them open with white tassels, expecting the sun would do Penny some good, even if she didn’t know it was there. She had charmed the colours of the visitor seats a cheerful green to the dismay of the healers, and had stationed flowers throughout the room to give it a fresh, garden smell. The walls were charmed a soothing yellow, and pictures had been hung to give the room a more homely feel. Lavender lilies, the scheme behind the design, had been placed on either side of her bed, with the flower from her wellwishers placed at the foot upon a table placed for such things.
She had received several unpleasant remarks for her redesign of the room, however Meaghan was certain Penny would feel more at home here then in the white on white that was accustomed to the hospital. When she had tried to bring in a bedspread to replace the stiff, white linen on the beds, the mediwizards had put their foot down. Their choice in bedding was because it was sterile and the color allowed them to easily recognise any dirt of grime. Meaghan knew she should have been on her best behavior - she wasn’t technically family, and therefore they could remove her at will, however luckily she had not irritated them to the point of banishing her from the ward until further notice.
She had accomplished quite a lot in one evening, and had promptly fell asleep in the late hours of the morning when she had been unable to force her eyes open any longer. Slouched in one of her charmed chairs, and looking rather wrinkled, she had been in a light sleep, too exhausted not to sleep, but to on edge to actually succumb to deep sleep, when the sound of Penny’s voice registered in her mind. Her eyes opened as she came alert, and though it took her a moment to clear her thoughts, she was up in moments and reaching for Penny’s hand, “Penny?” Clasping her hand, she perched on the edge of the bed, moisture collecting in her eyes, “Are you alright? Should I get a healer? Merlin, don’t you ever do that to me again! ”
It wasn’t Penny’s fault, but Meaghan wasn’t exactly thinking clearly.
