This little family Christmas get-together had been all George's idea, and that would make it a really crummy thing if he didn't show up. And yet, it was taking a lot of willpower to convince himself to Apparate out the door, so to speak.
His pre-departure peptalk took place in the mirror, which was a rare thing. George only paid mirrors any attention when he absolutely had to. He eyed his reflection, tucked the small crystal vial and its chain under his robes, and smoothed down his hair. "Now or never."
He scooped up the parcels he had bought and turned on the spot, appearing down the path from the cottage's front door. He powered forward to knock, knowing if he hesitated he might turn and leave again.
As he waited for the door to open, he hitched on his best grin, which he flashed at Fleur as soon as she opened the door. All smiles, he stepped into the house.
"Hello, everyone!" He came into the sitting room to set the packages down, declining Fleur's offer of something to drink.
