Narcissa had no idea of what her husband was talking about and she had a feeling he didn't either. A course of action without picking a side? Hadn't they just said they couldn't do that? Staying neutral wasn't really an option — or was it?
She liked Lucius's honeyed tongue, but not when it was turned on her. Narcissa was sure that he was just turning the words over, trying to figure out what they should do, but she sighed in frustration anyway. She had hoped, futilely it appeared, that when the war had ended, everything would return to normal. It had been almost childish to hope such a thing, but it had carried her through the dark days of the Dark Lord living in their house.
"Should we just wait and see what happens?" Narcissa sighed again as she asked the question, hating the uncertainty she felt. That was one reason she wished they had a plan, or a proposed plan. Then she knew she would feel stronger again. This limbo they were in was tiring and nerve-wracking.
You are a Black, she told herself sternly. Pull yourself together! "I think we should. The Lestranges have shown their hand, but the government has not."
