"You don't get it, do you?" Ron asked, deciding that looking at Hermione had been a bad idea as he lowered his gaze again. "Everything was about you!"
He was quick to add, "Well, not the spider. But Bellatrix, all she did was taunt me about what she did to you. And how helpless I was and I how I couldn't protect you."
He hesitated a moment, but then continued. "And I was afraid you wouldn't forgive me. That I'd lose you forever because I..." He didn't finish the sentence.
"And then you were just laying there, dead..." His voice broke as he said that, and he didn't continue, even though he realised he hadn't mentioned that bit to her before. The image of her body on the ground before him in the Ministry was still vivid in his memory though, and so he glanced at her quickly, just to remind himself that she was very much alive in front of him.
