WHO: Daphne & Astoria Greengrass (with NPC!Alexander III) WHAT: Daphne returns from the Charity Ball just to be bombarded by her siblings. WHERE: The Greengrass Estate. WHEN:BACKDATED: Friday evening, after the Charity Ball. RATING: Fairly low.
She took her shoes off midway up the stairs to her home. With one hand grasping her shoes, and the other holding up the bottom of her dress to prevent from stepping on it, Daphne watched the door open to welcome her back into her home. She was hoping to bypass her siblings, but she knew that wasn't likely when she saw the flickering of the fireplace from the drawing room. Attempting to tip toe pass the drawing room, she was halfway past the entrance when a voice called out to her.
"You're home early."
A broad smirk curled on her lips as she recognized Alexander's voice calling out to her from the drawing room. Stepping into the entrance of the drawing room, she leaned against the doorway, the look about her was almost.... casual. Was she glowing with happiness? Merlin, and that smile, it seemed so foreign on Daphne's face. The once perfect ringlets of curls in her hair were slowly uncurling to her typically wavy glossy look. Bare feet were slightly visible from under the hem of dress. Tugging the long opera gloves off her hands, she looked up at her brother who had the typical Greengrass sneer on his face. He looked ready to burst as Daphne's smirk broadened.
"The ball ended early, something about an incident. They didn't say more than that." Shrugging, she looked around the room. Was Astoria there? She knew her sister was going to sense something different about her, Astoria was always the more observant of her siblings. Alexander was more focused on Daphne's appearance and while Daphne could appreciate her brother's obvious obliviousness to underlying things, it also made it a daunting task to tell him anything about herself. Which is probably why she got along with him so much, she didn't have to tell him all about her private life and her inner thoughts.
"What's wrong with you? Where's Nott? I still think you going to that bloody thing was a waste of time."
Daphne snickered and shook her head, Alexander was starting to sound like their father, and the transformation was too hilarious. She didn't bother to answer to his questions and just shrugged her shoulders instead - which in turn just infuriated Alexander. Daphne was in rare form. Her spirits were high, that much was evident. How long that would last now that she was home and away from Theodore was uncertain.
