"Everyone's a bit flighty," Ernie assured her. "What with the way they broke things up so fast. Don't worry about it."
His words were right, but his tone sounded hollow, even to his own ears. He still itched to go back to the Ministry and find out what had happened, even though he knew if he tried he would only end up stonewalled and sent home. He told himself that the best thing to do was stay with Lavender, but it was still hard.
"You...ah, we'll just stay in for tonight. I'm sure they'll let everyone know soon what happened. Probably just a false alarm of some sort, right?"
