"That's a truth," Ernie said with a laugh and put one arm companionably around her shoulders. "Though you'd turn heads all on your own in that dress."
He glanced down at her and then back over to the other guests. He didn't mean anything by it, but it was hard to look at her without staring at the faint hint of the scars he knew were under her spells. He didn't think Lavender was any less beautiful for them, but he also knew she was sensitive about them.
