There were precious few things in the world that had managed to surprise Alfred Pennyworth; after all, he worked for one of the most renowned superheroes in the world, and that often came with the opportunity to witness the astonishing. Maybe it was that calm nature that prevented him from raising the alarm when his duties brought him down to the Batcave to find it filled with . . . quite un-Batman-like sounds. Or maybe it was simply the fact that he was almost positive he recognized those giggles. But whatever the reason was, Alfred set his bottle of cleaner and cloth down near the Bat-computer and followed the sound over to the trophy room.
"While we don't often receive visitors here," he said, addressing the artifacts of his employer's nightly jaunts, "it is considered polite to announce one's self upon arrival."
