Enigma cursed as she heard something shattering from upstairs and she set down the teapot she had been filling, taking the stairs two at a time, tackling Effie away from the broken table. “No!”
“Let me go!” Effie screamed, struggling against her older sister, kicking her hard, managing even in her depression and frustration to miss her stomach, sending the woman flying back into a wall.
Enigma growled softly, lunging and catching Effie around her legs, sending the girl to the ground. “I thought that he told you to be happy and safe!” She said, promptly sitting on her sister, only to go flying against as Effie shoved her off.
“And he’s dead now!” Effie screamed, fangs extending as she advanced on the woman stoping her from ending her pain, kicking Enigma in the ribs, sending her into the bed, ignoring as it started to break from the impact.
Enigma gasped softly, holding her broken ribs, her eyes starting to become speckled with green. “He would want you to live, you stupid bitch!” She stood, wavering slightly, before trying to beat the vampire to the pile of wood.
Effie didn’t even bother to go after it, even if she was faster, but instead kicking a chair into Enigma, grinning as it caught the woman and sent her falling again. Effie was tired of having to be the happy one, the agreeable one, the sister who put up with everything because that was just who she was.
She was tired of being nice.
She stalked over to the focus of her rage and pain, kicking Enigma in the stomach, laughing as the woman screamed in pain, slamming into a wall again. Blood started staining Enigma’s thighs and groin, the pain flooding her forcing her to gasp though clenched teeth.
Green flowed over her skin, muscles shifting, bulging, ripping through her shirt and pants. She roared, tackling the vampire, punching her repeatedly in the face, the blows actually doing damage to the vampire, breaking her cheek and jaw.
Effie threw her off, scrambling backwards, and seizing a part of the table she had broken, lashing out as Enigma came at her again, yelping in fear as it didn’t even scratch the woman. She twisted her body as she was suddenly thrown through the air, hitting the wall with her hands and pushing off, running for the door rather than going after Enigma again.
Enigma chased the woman, the floor shaking as she ran, eager to rip the vampire’s limbs from her body and beat her to death with them. As they ran through the hall, a door opened and Matt stepped out, avoiding the vampire, but slamming into his mother, forcing her off course. Enigma turned, roaring at Matt who punched her in the face, shoving her down over the railing onto the next floor.
He jumped over it after, landing in a crouch, eyeing his mother. “Enough!”
Enigma roared, swinging a fist towards the man who backflipped out of the way. Matt closed his eyes, extending his senses that he inherited from his father, preferring to fight blind rather than with sight. As Enigma moved to hit him again he dodged it, grabbing her arm as it moved past him and swinging his legs up into her head, sending her back.
Enigma was weaker than Hulk, but what she lacked in strength, she made up for in speed and she was back up almost instantly, sending Matt against a wall, the twenty-year old slamming his head into the brickwork, forcing him to pause for a moment, head spinning, sonic vision flashing for a moment, almost causing him to miss the fist aiming for his body.
He ducked, twisting so that his legs were coming up in a kick as he moved, sending her back enough for him to get breathing room. He stood, ready for another attack, only to find a large hand wrapped around his throat, squeezing the life out of him.
As he struggled, gasping for breath, two shots rang out, hitting Enigma in the face, distracting her so that she dropped Matt, leaving him gasping on the ground as she took off after Effie again who had fired at her.
Effie took off running again, her vampire speed barely keeping her ahead of Enigma as he ran into the basement, sliding into one of the dungeon rooms. Enigma followed her in and Effie turned, sliding back between Enigma’s legs and kicking the door to the room shut, slamming a heavy bolt in place before leaning against the door as Enigma tried to bust back out.
“How long does this last?!” she screamed at Matt who followed them down.
“Too long,” he muttered, reaching an arm into the cell and firing a small tranquilizer gun right into Enigma's face as she tried to grab him, pleased when the needle embedded itself into her tongue.
It took a moment, but she crashed into the ground, the drugs taking effect, her body shifting back to her human form while Matt pulled out his cellphone, texting Damien that they had an emergency at the Boarding House and needed his help.
