He heard the man coming out of the room down the hallway but he didn't move from his spot near the girl, though she quickly moved away from the Viking and clung to her rescuer like a child to a parent. Eric sighed. Mortals could be so ridiculous...but this man, he was different, and he soon looked up at him, cocking a head in the dark. "Yes, how? You're not one of my kind," he said slowly, somewhere between amused and cautious.
"And before you start playing hero, she ran into me. I wasn't going to hurt her," Eric made clear. "You should keep a tighter leash on your human."
