Dean hadn't been on that many dates to even form an opinion on this date either being the worst date or just a date with some bad luck on the side of it. He ventured to guess it was the second choice just by the way Cordelia was rolling with it. Looking at him expectantly for when he would end up blowing up if one more thing happened. He guessed the rain was the last straw before he just, mentally, gave up on trying to be optimistic. At the very least they both had one thing going for them, which was the fact that everything when it came down to a personal level was going swimmingly. He'd made her laugh, she'd made him feel better when he ended up being on the bad end of some really hot food. They got the meal for free after Dean pretended to be one of those customers when the manager came out to apologize for his new choice in wardrobe.
His hair was now streaked down instead of poking up like he'd had it previously that night. He'd actually spent time getting ready to go out on their date rather than just slamming anything on and heading out the door. Cordelia deserved that much, even though he had already had another one of his 'nightmares' happen on the date which was being hit on by some man as well. The wolf whistle he got was not wanted at all but Cordelia seemed to laugh about it. He decided it was karma...again. Coming to bite him roughly on his nicely shaped ass.
A low chuckle rumbled through him at what she was saying as he continued to remain bent over. He wasn't exactly asking for her to take him right than and there. Actually, sex really had been the furthest thing on his mind this evening which was something he was pretty sure was a first for him. "Fine, but if I throw your back out, I don't want to hear you whining next time we go on patrol. You're going to just have to suck it up." He glanced over his shoulder, giving a small laugh. "Nah, you'll take care of me. I know you, Cordelia Chase. You won't leave me in pain!" He hoped she wouldn't at the very least but he didn't chock it all up to just that.
He put it up to the fact that he was pretty sure she felt the same about him. That he would take care of her when she was hurt or anything. Likewise with this as an example before gladly accepting her weight on his back and holding her denim-clad legs in his hands as she tried almost as valiantly as he did to keep the rain out of their faces. He laughed before going in the direction she told him too, letting her guide them back to Angel's place as the rain started pouring. The newspaper did nothing to save them as he continued on. His feet aching as he hummed Metallica under his breath as they continued walking, not mentioning at all that it was too much of a burden to carry Cordelia or not mentioning that he'd rather be somewhere warm and cuddled up under the blanket with his girlfriend or just asleep.
"My god...are we there yet?" He blurted out as he started up the last few steps to the door of Angel's apartment. It was meant more as a joke than anything else as he carefully set her down right in front of the door with a low 'oof'.
