For the first time since Cordelia had been back, the temperatures outside were comfortable, even warm. When compared to the seemingly constant onslaught of snow and ice that had made up the entirety of the winter months. Never had she thought that she would miss California, but Cordelia and the cold had never mixed well. A born and raised Valley Girl, she'd grown accustomed to the searing summers and the warm winters. She'd been thoroughly pleased when she'd walked outside tonight, only to find that it was in the sixties. Maybe it wasn't in the eighties like Cordelia preferred, but it was leagues better than the thirties. And the way things were going as of late, Cordelia was so much more thankful for things she'd used to take for granted; such as nice weather. Or, you know -- a studly guy.
Dean Winchester wasn't like any of the guys she'd met before. Not any that were human, anyway. Their first date had definitely been out of the conventional dinner and a movie. That had been just fine by her. Instead of watching a movie, the two of them had gone on a patrol that had ended with them stopping for some cheap Chinese food. Granted, it wasn't like the dates that the guys had used to take her on. For one thing, the guys she'd dated in the past would have screamed and ran if they'd seen the demon that she and Dean had put down. Secondly? Cordelia would have slapped any guy that had tried to take her to a cheap Chinese buffet. But that was then. Now, she happened to think it was endearing. More than anything, she'd loved listening to Dean talk about his life. He hadn't given her every single detail, but he'd shared stories of his previous hunts, how he and his brother would always prank each other, and Cordelia couldn't help but to be enamored. Hell, she had even thought it was cute when he spilled Chow Mein all over the front of his shirt. The second date had been even better. He'd shown up at the apartment, one of those "I'm up to no good" expressions plastered on his too-handsome face. Within an hour, they were overlooking the entire city of Cleveland, and all the darting, colorful lights that made up any city at night. "How'd you find this place?" She'd been here for months, and she'd never even known about the overlook. It was a large rock formation that sat on a huge hill, and the two of them had sat with their feet dangling off the edge of the tallest rock, looking over the houses and buildings.
It would have been naive of Cordelia to say that she was in love after two dates, but she was definitely feeling the butterflies.
The people were out in hordes tonight in attempts to enjoy the warm weather. It was like everyone had just come out of some long hibernation, their moods lifted considerably. Cordelia's tennis shoes moved along the sidewalk with a slight hop in her step, her mood just as soaring as those around her. I should have brought Angel. The Dark Avenger hadn't exactly been the avenging type lately, though he had an extra side of dark. No one could blame him, really. Things hadn't been smooth for him, or anyone else for that matter, ever since they'd all come to Cleveland. Cordelia had hoped her return would help. She wasn't sure that it had, but that didn't keep her from trying.
The Seer hadn't even realized that she had walked into an area less known, and definitely less populated until she bumped shoulders with someone else. When she lifted her head to apologize, she was staring at a petite blonde. "Sorry about that."
