It hasn't been long since Joan had to start fresh with a new group to work with, but Dunwich isn't London and Mistery, Inc. isn't Scotland Yard. She's seen a number of bizarre things in her time as a detective, including tiny drones that deliver a lethal dose of poison and stolen zebras that give birth to extinct quaggas. But all those things she's seen have had scientific explanations. That bedrock of reason is so much shifting sand here, so Joan is doing as much research as she can to get as much of a handle on how investigation would even work as possible.
Joan is in the office of Mistery, Inc., going over files, reading about the cases Harry and Yelena (and people they've lost) have investigated. She's deep into a case when the door opens, and Joan looks up, removing her reading glasses.
