In early March, a number of Mistakes experienced headaches and eventually floated, looking entirely too much like Vecna’s victims did. Thankfully this only lasted for 24 hours. A barrier across the ocean, keeping anyone from entering it was also discovered.
The next week, a different batch of Mistakes ended up sleepwalking. Upon awakening they had drawn a symbol with their own blood throughout various places in Dunwich.
And last week, a number of locals and Mistakes had been turned into statues.
March 23
The pictured monolith will be emerging in the ocean outside of Dunwich. All Mistakes will be receiving a message from the Deep One. It might come to them in their mind or perhaps scrawled in blood across their mirror, but the words are the same.
Deliver my bride or meet a watery fate.
What now?
News reports are coming in that a hurricane is brewing. Locals are whispering about how it might make landfall. The sky starts out overcast Saturday before a week of rain comes to Dunwich. It’ll start out as a relatively light rain on Sunday, the strength of it increasing each day. With the winds increasing and lightning and thunder starting up on Tuesday as well.
A variety of monsters are on the loose and coming to attack and cause chaos, hoping to get the Mistakes to decide to give up Sabrina and end the chaos before any of them die.
By Thursday, the federal government is telling Dunwich locals that they need to evacuate. Sorry, Mistakes, you kind of can’t.
Speaking to a god?
If yours has the volunteer spot to speak to the Deep One, please post under the thread for it. Put in the date you want this to have happened, if you want to roll for enthrallment, and if you’d like this conversation to be in person or in your character’s head. (In person you will need to be near the ocean).
Creatures on the loose
RUSALKA: These lovely water ladies utilize all types of water to drag their victims to their lakes in order to drown them and then feast on their bodies and souls. They will be utilizing bathrooms, sewers, pools, the lakes and rivers in the forest, and the ocean to drag people back to them. The rain at the end of the month will be helping them to get any victims into the sewers and back to their watery lair.
GORGONS: There are three of them and like in the myths, if you look at them head on they will turn you to stone. (please see this post)
KELPIE: These shapeshifting water beings can turn into horses, look like men, and will try to drag unsuspecting victims down into the water to drown them. There is a herd of them in town.
VODYANOY: Usually found in lakes, rivers and streams, these creatures are also residing in the sewers and working to drown anyone they come across until their master gets his way.
CREATURES OF THE DEEP: From deep within the waves, these monsters range in size and looking upon them is almost akin to looking directly at the Deep One--it may drive you insane. Some have tentacles, some have claws. Both can release venom into a person's body if they graze you and that venom has a tendency to drive people insane or into a rage, where they'll attack anyone, friend and foe.
