It all happened so quickly after Alexis arrived, they'd been talking - Jim had been ready to find Meggan and get her attention, and then Riley was muttering apologies for sleights Jim hadn't had and the he was gone. Moving faster than Jim might have guessed possible, and yet the proof of it had been directly before him.
Alexis' behavior was odd too - Jim didn't think he needed anyone looking out for, him though he appreciated the effort, but the entire interaction left him uncertain of what he'd been dealing with. He'd have liked a few more minutes talking with Riley.
When it was just the two of them again Jim frowned a little, still puzzling out what had happened as he turned to Alexis. "Yeah it was," the quick exit, her sudden appearance, all of it. "Do you know him? You said he bit you?"
