Riley & Meggan
Fingers shaking - and not from the cold - Riley had to try three times before he successfully managed to type out I'm outside. He hit Send and stood there, club lights bathing him in their warm glow, his slow-beating heart in his throat.
He couldn't remember the last time he'd been this nervous. Prom, maybe. Or his first day of college. Both occasions paled in comparison, though. There were so many people here. He could hear their heartbeats, feel their alluring warmth.
He licked his lips and thought, for the hundredth time, that this was a mistake. That he shouldn't have let Meggan talk him into coming tonight. That he was going to regret it.
