Running. He was always running. This time, he was running from a very cross beastie that he had tried to initially befriend. Dodging it throughout the mist proved difficult, but he was nothing if not resourceful. Weaving through the trees in the park, he didn't bother to look over his shoulder to see if he was still being pursued. Monsters in the mist, it was almost novel.
It wasn't exactly what he'd been looking for when he'd stepped back into the TARDIS only to end up here. He had scanned the phone given to him by some stranger upon his arrival, but the overhanging mystery in the very air had distracted the Doctor. Now, sunset well behind him, he was somewhat regretting not investigating it or the building he'd stumbled into rather than his own ship's ramp.
One problem at a time.
Those lanky legs carried a still damp from the snow Doctor barreling into someone. A young girl? He tried to slow down before completely overwhelming her, but he'd just decided to look over his shoulder to ensure he was no longer being pursued. It was quiet behind him, but he suspected that meant the predator was changing tactics. That meant he didn't have a whole lot of time, and neither did this stranger in the mist.
Reaching for her hand blindly, he turned to look at the soul he'd encountered and opened his mouth to speak when her identity registered. She stole the breath from his lungs, the fear from his hearts, and all else fell numb around him.
Tongue heavy in his mouth, he breathed out the name he had only just barely dared to say in the day since parting ways, "Rose... Tyler?" What?
