Elphaba's head was spinning as she flew through the air, dodging the winged monkeys and focusing on keeping the broom aloft and mentally urging it to move faster so she could get away from the castle. The revelations about the Wizard and her trusted magic teacher were still nearly impossible to believe and the fact that Glinda not only defended them, but opted to stay and wanted her to help them was even harder to accept. Despite their rocky beginning, the two young women had developed a strong friendship, or at least Elphaba thought they had, and she thought that there was more to the pink obsessed blonde than a desire for social status and power. Realizing how badly she misjudged her roommate was more painful than the betrayal of the two people she previously looked up to.
As she flew, she realized she had no idea where she was going or what she was going to do. She obviously couldn't go back to Shiz. They would be looking for her there. And going home wasn't an option either. No doubt her father would be swiftly made aware of what happened in Oz, of the fact that his green daughter was somehow even more of a pariah than she had always been. The brief thought of going to Winkieland and trying to get a message to Fiyero crossed her mind, but she shook it off immediately. If he betrayed her the way Glinda did, she couldn't bear it.
The sky filled with a strange mist and she was struggling to see where she was going. The broom dipped a bit lower, Elphaba struggling to keep it aloft as her anger began to settle into more of a seething disappointment. How was she going to land? And what happened when she did? She took a deep breath, let it out slowly, and tried to focus her energy on slowly descending. When it seemed to work, she actually smiled to herself. At least something was going right. The fog seemed to be getting thicker the lower she got though and she really hoped she wasn't about to crash into a tree or a building.
When her feet hit the ground, she reached for the broom and, once she had it in hand, she looked around in an attempt to get her bearings. Nothing looked familiar and she a sense of dread came over here. Was this some kind of trick? Had Morrible sent her somewhere dangerous?
