Who: Elphaba Thropp and Quentin Coldwater
What: Elphaba's arrival
Where: Just outside the research facility
When: Sunday evening
Warnings: tbd
Status: Closed/In Progress

Elphaba's head was spinning as she flew through the air, dodging the winged monkeys and focusing on keeping the broom aloft and mentally urging it to move faster so she could get away from the castle. The revelations about the Wizard and her trusted magic teacher were still nearly impossible to believe and the fact that Glinda not only defended them, but opted to stay and wanted her to help them was even harder to accept. Despite their rocky beginning, the two young women had developed a strong friendship, or at least Elphaba thought they had, and she thought that there was more to the pink obsessed blonde than a desire for social status and power. Realizing how badly she misjudged her roommate was more painful than the betrayal of the two people she previously looked up to.

As she flew, she realized she had no idea where she was going or what she was going to do. She obviously couldn't go back to Shiz. They would be looking for her there. And going home wasn't an option either. No doubt her father would be swiftly made aware of what happened in Oz, of the fact that his green daughter was somehow even more of a pariah than she had always been. The brief thought of going to Winkieland and trying to get a message to Fiyero crossed her mind, but she shook it off immediately. If he betrayed her the way Glinda did, she couldn't bear it.

The sky filled with a strange mist and she was struggling to see where she was going. The broom dipped a bit lower, Elphaba struggling to keep it aloft as her anger began to settle into more of a seething disappointment. How was she going to land? And what happened when she did? She took a deep breath, let it out slowly, and tried to focus her energy on slowly descending. When it seemed to work, she actually smiled to herself. At least something was going right. The fog seemed to be getting thicker the lower she got though and she really hoped she wasn't about to crash into a tree or a building.

When her feet hit the ground, she reached for the broom and realized that she was standing in snow. A lot of it. And the temperature was freezing. Grateful for the cloak that Glinda had tied around her before she left the castle, she tried to figure out where she was and what her next move should be. Suddenly, the sound of a door opening startled her and she realized there was a building very close by. Should she make whoever exited aware of her presence?

Since they'd arrived, Quentin had done his best to make the rounds occasionally, upping the wards they'd put in place at the start of their arrival as well as adding warming spells in areas that were colder than others. He had a feeling that Eadwulf and Gordo too were likely doing the same when they had time. It just so happened that as he'd stepped out that evening to check on the wards and make certain that everything was as it had been the last time he'd checked there was something different.

He frowned looking around, most everything looked the same but then he spotted her, a woman out in the snow clutching... a broom? Well that was new. His first thought was of Ivy, maybe she was back with them, god she'd hate this place he thought, but the more he looked the less sure he was of that.

"Hello?" He called out to her, "Let me guess, you don't know how you got here? Maybe there was some fog or mist you came through?" He guessed, remembering back over a year ago when he'd found himself in a very familiar position, minus the broom and the freezing temperatures.

The voice startled her though she supposed it shouldn't have. Her vibrant green skin wasn't going to blend in with all the white snow surrounding her so it wasn't really a surprise that someone spotted her. The words were a bit more startling though and Elphaba frowned, even as she shivered slightly from the cold.

"Yes... how did you know that?" she asked. Was this some kind of trick? Had the Wizard managed to get word out to wherever this was? Did Morrible somehow create the fog? It wasn't like Elphaba could easily hide her identity. "Where am I?" She hadn't extensively traveled and didn't recognize the area, though she was aware there were several places throughout the land where snow was common.

"That's what happens to all of us," Quentin answered with a shrug of his shoulders. "I was -" He started and stopped uncertain if his story would help or hurt in this case, "Well I was helping my friends and then suddenly this mist came up out of no where, and I found myself somewhere else." He explained, leaving out all the details of where he'd been or what he'd been doing at the time - it wasn't really important. Just dying or something like that.

Her other question was easier though, "Right now we're in Antarctica," He told her, "I don't know if you have that where you're from, but you know really cold no one else around for miles and miles." He gestured a little wildly around them like it proved his point. "Come on, let's get inside, it's too cold to sit out here and talk like this." Even with warming spells and wards this place was just plain too cold.

He tipped his head back in the direction he'd come from, inviting her in. "I'm sure you've got lots more questions."
