It kind of was. But the first time I was five and unaccompanied, and so they used to sit me next to any traveling pilots when they could. There was one there that time and he was explaining the noises to me, and whether or not the plane was in any real trouble. I guess they're made so that if one engine malfunctions or something they can keep control and try to restart it.
