🍖 Labor Day Block Party. Held on Labor Day every year, Main Street is blocked off for a community block party. Everyone is invited to bring a dish to pass, but the real draw is the BBQ Contest, where grills are lined up down the street and anyone can sign up to compete to make the best barbeque in Dunhaven. The winners are decided upon by the city council and they are rewarded bragging rights and a plaque.

🧙♂️ If you happen to walk around downtown today, you'll almost definitely be stopped by a street magician or, at the very least, see the small crowds that gather around him all day as he does magic with cards, coins, ropes, scarves -- you name it, he can do it. Is it magic or just tricks? He's really very good and he claims it's magic, but you believe what you want to believe.

🎥 Comet Drive-In makes a bit of a splash tonight when, instead of playing Angry Birds 2, it shows It: Chapter Two. Whoops. It gets caught eventually after several parents make a point to alert the employees of the mistake, but not before the kids in the cars saw a bit more than they might have bargained for.

📻 WRAV Scavenger Hunt. The local radio station hosts a scavenger hunt that takes people all over Dunhaven. It's become more elaborate every year -- as have the prizes. Registered teams of no more than four will race across town following a series of clues that take them around town to various businesses, parks, and monuments. The first three teams to finish will win the prizes! This year the station is following their theme of giving away trips by giving out $500 airline vouchers to each team member in the top three.
FIRST PLACE TEAM: Miles, Naomi, Dahlia, and Verity SECOND PLACE TEAM: OPEN THIRD PLACE TEAM: Xing Li, Rachel Marlow

🤔 A pop-up escape room has taken up residence in one of the vacant businesses in town. The escape room is rather well done, with just enough challenging riddles so it isn't easy to get through, but not too difficult that it's impossible. Come on down with a team of your favorite people and see if you can make it out! They'll be open every evening through the rest of September.

🎤 This weekend is the grand opening of a new bar in town -- High Note, a karaoke bar! They have rooms that you can rent for parties or just if you want one for an evening with your closest friends as you belt songs, otherwise every night is karaoke night in the bar proper. Complete with a stage, a library of more or less any song you can think of, and a bar menu of lots of music themed drinks, it's definitely unlike anything Dunhaven has seen, even with the handful of bars that do already have weekly karaoke nights.

🏃 Today marks the first annual Dunhaven Youth Center 5K Run/Walk in Dunhaven, winding along the scenic roads and trails in town, all with a nice view of the river. Registration is $25, giving you a place in the run and a t-shirt, and all proceeds go toward the local youth center, helping fund events, classes, and supplies. The run itself starts at 9:30AM and ends whenever you cross that finish line!

💃 Homecoming might be coming up for the high school and college aged students, but that doesn't mean the older crowd shouldn't have a reason to get dressed up and dance the night away. At least, that's what the powers that be decided when planning the next big town social event -- Millennial Prom! Taking place at the Dunhaven Hotel, this event is decidedly prom themed and will be especially recognizable to anyone that went to prom during the 90s and early 00s. So if you were born between 1981 and 1996, pass your hopeful date a note asking them to go, buy a corsage, and dig out an extravagant dress and party like you're about to graduate.
