Fiona stormed through the front doors of the of The Cozy Cottage in an absolute fury. She was utterly disgusted with her elder brother and livid with herself for not telling him off a week ago as she should have. The moment she knew he was in town she should have been at his door telling him to get out. Now, he’d not only upset Ezra, but he’d done the same with Finn. Jack Clarkson had well overstayed his welcome in Dunhaven and it was time someone made him realize it. Fiona banged a fist on the door to his room. She hadn’t asked anyone which suite was his. She hadn’t needed to. She could feel his energy and ego radiating from down the hallway. “Open the god-damned door, Jack.” A moment later and his smug face appeared and jaw tightened. He was still immaculately dressed, which was somehow even more irritating. Even here in the privacy of his room he was still perfectly put together. “Fiona. I’ve been wondering when you’d come and visit. I’ve seen everyone else now.” She barged into the room, and made sure to check him with her shoulder as she passed. The door slammed shut behind her even though she didn’t touch it. Though, at the current moment, neither Clarkson sibling noticed. Fiona spun on her heel once she hit the center of the room and aimed her fury directly at her brother. “Do you mind telling me what the fuck you think you’re doing?” “Visiting family, of course-” “You weren’t wanted.” She pressed her lips together in the tightest of lines and breathed in sharply through her nose. “You. Are. Not. Wanted. Do you understand that? I know it’s difficult for you to get it through your head when everyone always fawns over themselves to give you whatever you want, but it is not happening this time. “Our brother is one of the kindest, most selfless, giving people on this planet. You already destroyed him for your own gain once. And now, after he’s put himself back together again- on the one day he has for himself- you turn up and make it all about you. Fucking Christ, Jack. Do you not see how supremely disgusting that is? And then you make jokes to him about it? Newsflash, if you’re the only one laughing, you’re not funny. You’re just an ass. And I refuse to let you lessen your accountability for what happened by trying to turn it into a joke. I should have come down here and thrown you out of this town that night.” Fiona’s black hair swung around her shoulders as she gestured at him. Her cheeks were flushed with anger, and unbeknownst to her, her normally blue eyes had begun to flash gold. “Fi,” Jack started. “I’m not bloody well finished yet, you arrogant shit. So after you showed up to steamroll and gaslight our brother, you then decided it was time to do the same thing to Finn. Which is just peak fucking Jack, isn’t it? The utter ego it takes to waltz into his work uninvited and tell him that he needs to be more understanding and sympathetic to what you were going through twenty years ago. He doesn’t owe you a god-damned thing. You do not get to come in here now and expect anything. This is not something your money or your privilege is going to open the door for. You got off scott free for your entire life. He didn’t. His mother didn’t.” She could tell Jack was feeling slightly rattled now, though doing his best not to show it. He hid it beneath a cracking veneer of confidence. “I have a right-” She cut him off with a harsh laugh. “You have fuck all rights. You’re not even doing this for Finn. If you had any respect at all for him, you’d have shown him at least a modicum of decency or kindness. This is all about you. Maybe you and your insecurities can’t handle the fact that Ez is happy and is building a relationship with Finn. Whatever your issues are- get a therapist, fucking figure them out in Seattle, and leave them alone. You do not get to dictate a relationship with either of them. So kindly get the fuck out of their home before I make you.” He sneered. “I’ll leave when I’ve-” “You’ll leave now!” She thundered at him. Another flash of gold in her eyes and the glass flower vase on the dresser exploded into a thousand tiny pieces. Jack stared wide-eyed at the dark stain of water on the carpet, littered with glistening shards of glass. “What the hell.” Fiona let Morgana’s magic course through her. She held out her hands and the walls of the room shook, almost as though the building itself were warning him to get out. After a few seconds, Fiona lowered her hands and her eyes returned to their normal blue. The room stilled. She took a deep breath and exhaled, then sat primly in a chair. “Pack your things. I’ll wait. You’re leaving town tonight.” Her brother was pale as a sheet and looked genuinely terrified of her in that moment. Later he’d chalk this all up to coincidence. Of course Crazy Fi didn’t actually have magic powers. He’d never believed what was directly in front of him. She didn’t care what he thought, so long as it was far away from Dunhaven. When it became clear that Fiona wasn’t going to leave, Jack finally acquiesced and pulled his suitcase from the closet to begin tossing his things inside. He didn’t speak to her the entire time, and genuinely appeared to be ignoring her. As if pretending this entire idea was his own. When his things were packed, Jack pulled on his shoes and coat and turned to look at Fiona. “I really did just want-” “Get. Out.” She narrowed her eyes at him and Jack shot her a nasty glare before he strode out of the room. Once he was gone, Fiona crumpled back into the chair, completely drained and exhausted. A headache had begun to throb at the base of her skull. After a few moments, she became acutely aware that she should leave and get back to her own room. “Fuck.” She pushed herself up, made certain to avoid the broken glass (she did feel a bit bad about that, but they’d just charge it to Jack’s card anyway), and slipped down the dim hallway to her room. |
