The ceremony itself took place on a hiking trail. Only close friends and members of their family were explicitly invited to the ceremony, which took place at 2PM. Zeke and most of the ceremony goers hiked up first. Alee and her father followed about fifteen minutes later. They got married at the top of a trail, overlooking a beautiful mountain view with a nearby waterfall. They wrote their own vows. It was a short and sweet ceremony, directly followed by pictures, some posed and some informal. Everyone hiked back down together to the lodge where the reception had been set up. More details below...
The day actually began with a sisterly breakfast Alee put together for the Grant sisters. The only reason she didn't have them on her wedding party was to prevent things from getting out of hand, and also keep things fair between all the sisters. She explained to them well in advance why the wedding party was remaining small, and got them each a little, personalized gift like she would have if they'd been bridesmaids!
The ceremony took place on the trail, and the lodge was at the entrance to that trail. The above pictures are references, of course, but Alee still has red hair and her make up looked more like in the link. She also carried a bouquet of wildflowers.
After the ceremony, they had a variety of offerings for people to snack on, including meats, cheeses, veggies, fruits, breads and crackers, spreads, and more! There was a Make Your Own Trail Mix Bar with a variety of offerings for people to make to-go bags. They also had an extensive Pie Bar instead of a wedding cake. The pies were all made by Jeb from Grandma's, including a lone slice of strawberry pie that was set aside for the bride and groom to share. In addition to the food, they set up a Spotify playlist to keep background music flowing, and there would have been space for anyone who wanted to dance! Zeke and Alee's first dance was set to Honeybee by The Head and the Heart.
The guest list is really fairly open! Anyone who knows them that wanted to come is welcome at the reception, which would have started around 3:30PM. Friends, co-workers, and pie lovers gather here. ;)
