Today is the 14th annual WRAV Scavenger Hunt! The event is hosted by their morning DJs, Luke Marlow and Kiera Malone, who are as sassy and charismatic as ever this morning as they thank everyone for coming and hype up the big event. When the clock hits 10AM, they get down to business. The university students that man the station at night (and are sort of glorified interns) come around and give each individual or team a bag. Inside the bag are the t-shirts for the team (they're tie-dyed neon colors, so not all are the same, but they definitely are all some variation of highlighter yellow and have the WRAV Scavenger Hunt logo on the front, plus the year and this year's unique logo), a set of rules, a WRAV pen and pad of paper, and the first clue. The rules are simple -- don't interfere with another team, no destruction of property, etc. And then they're off! The clues will take people around town to various businesses, parks, and monuments. The next clue will need to be given verbally by someone at each of the places; figuring out who to go to is part of the riddle. Sometimes it's the owner of a shop, sometimes it's just someone sitting at a bench reading. Everyone is given a different first clue in hopes that they'll be staggered and they won't trip over each other too badly -- and also so no one is entirely sure who is winning at any given time. The WRAV staffers have had all year to figure these clues out, so they're pretty tough and require a decent knowledge of Dunhaven to figure out. In all, the scavenger hunt should complete late afternoon. Those that complete will have to get back to WRAV, where they'll find a parking lot that's been transformed into a street party, complete with live music and food vendors. You need to report directly to the DJs to be considered truly done. The last person will give each person that completes a bandana that matches the t-shirts as proof of completion, the first three given out having large numbers (1, 2, 3) printed on them to make it clear who is first, second, and third. Once that's all said and done, the party will continue until about 11PM, due to noise ordinances in the city. Feel free to comment below if your character participated, if they were part of a group, and if you'd like them to have won! This year's prizes are $500 airline vouchers, with each participant in the first three groups (or individual person, if they went at it alone) get a voucher. FIRST PLACE: Miles McKinnon, Naomi McKinnon, Verity McKinnon, and Dahlia Liang SECOND PLACE: Open! THIRD PLACE: Xing Li, Rachel Marlow |
