Indy pushed up the edge of his suit jacket to expose the watch that was resting against his left wrist. Spotting the time, and knowing he only had a few minutes before he needed to meet up with the others, he hurried into his bedroom and kicked the door shut with his foot before flopping down into his computer chair. He pushed up the lid of his laptop and with a few quick clicks he was booting up Skype. The familiar sounds of the connection being made erupted through his room and he caught a glimpse of himself being reflected back through the small video screen in the edge of the program. He didn't look half bad in his chocolate brown suit and red tie. It was going to be fairly early in the morning where his Dad was but Max had insisted that Indiana give him a call before he left for the dance. Indiana knew that his Father had actually hoped to be visiting home for a few weeks around this period but his leave had been delayed, so he wasn't able to be there for this, and he knew it was something that his Father felt guilty about. Max Crawford hadn't gotten to see his Son off to any of his dances and they were soon not going to be opportunities for him to have ever been able to. After this one all that was left was Prom; which Indiana supposed he would go to come Spring. It was a long way off though and his focus tonight was instead on the Homecoming festivities. Finally, his Father picked up, and Indiana's expression shifted into genuine excitement as he pushed his rolling chair back some so his Father could easily see his hands. 'Hey, old man.' Indiana signed at the computer screen with a wicked grin. "Hey, Fuzzball," his Father greeted with a loving, though sleepy tone. Indiana could tell that his Father had set an alarm to wake up for this conversation since the elder Crawford was propped up in bed; evidently using his cellphone tonight for the conversation. Shifting, Indiana stood and widened his arms to show off the entire get up, before saying 'What do you think? Not too shabby, right?' "You look like you let Rome dress you," his Father commented, with a laugh, before adding, "Which probably will work in your favor, Kid." 'I'll have you know I did this all on my own. But it's good, yeah?' "Yeah, kid, you look good." Indiana didn't necessarily need the compliment or the reassurance but hearing his Father speak favorably about him always made Indiana smile. He flopped back down in his chair before moving to continue the conversation. 'I promise I'll take lots of pictures. They'll be on facebook by tomorrow.' "Sounds good, Indy. Now, you aren't going to do anything stupid tonight, are you?" 'Nah. Who you think I am?' "Mhm." He gave a wide grin with a chuckle, bowing his head as he did, before looking up at the computer again. 'I got to get going. Want me to call you tomorrow?' "Yeah, please do." He nodded his head in agreement. 'Seeya, Dad' "Love you, Kid." His smile remained and he gave a slight wave to his Father before moving to disconnect the call. Once he'd hung up, he took in a deep breath, then leapt to his feet. He quickly snatched up his car keys and wallet before moving out of his room. He needed to get going if he wasn't going to be late. |
