WHO: Leo and Abby Moore + their guests! WHEN: August 18, with the ceremony starting at 3:30PM WHERE:Meadowlark Botanical Gardens SUMMARY: It's a wedding! WARNINGS: IC/OOC!
The venue was set up with the ceremony taking place outdoors, while the other festivities will be moved inside the atrium (though people can wander outside as they see fit later on in the evening). It was a hot Virginian summer day and everyone got a bottle of water when they walked outside to help with that. There was some security milling around thanks to possible paparazzi thanks to some of the bridal party, but there wasn't an actual issue with them at any point.
The ceremony itself started right at 3:30PM sharp, with some ushers making sure that everyone was seated and all was ready to go. The actual flowers decorating the space, both indoors and out, matched that in the link above. Leo and his Best Man, Jack Morehead, and groomsman, Nick Waters were wearing these applicable suits, while co-Maids of Honor, Dottie and Tessa Darling, wore this dress. Abby walked down the aisle with her dad on her arm, wearing this and a giant grin. There ceremony wasn't too long, with the officiant saying some nice things about love and commitment, then Leo and Abby exchanging vows that they wrote, giving one another their rings, and then kissing to make it official. It was probably around 15-20 minutes, then everyone could go back inside to the air conditioning for cocktails (open bar all night!) and a pretty wide assortment of hors d'oeuvres like meats and cheese, fruit, finger foods wrapped in bacon, things on crackers and stabbed with toothpicks, and so on, while the wedding party, families, and such did a round of pictures.
Dinner was served at 5:30PM! It was delicious. 😄 Afterwards, the tables were moved around to make space for a dance floor. There was a DJ and once all of the obligatory dances were handled (Abby and Leo's first dance was to "Hearts Don't Break Round Here" by Ed Sheeran), people could do karaoke. Both that and dancing were highly encouraged to all attendees. During the reception, Leo sang "Run Away With Me", substituting Abby's name for Sam. Abby definitely cried and practically ran and tackled him with a hug and kiss the second he was done singing the last note. Also, Abby can only really dance if there are instructions to the dancing or repetition, so there was some Cha Cha Slide, Electric Slide, and Macarena going on. Leo even nae nae'd, proving to Abby once again that she chose the right guy, and Cotton Eye Joe played just for that line dancing that Brynn told Abby about. She never forgets.
There were still snacks and drinks available into the night, as well as plenty of things for guests to do -- for example, this was the setup instead of a traditional guest book, disposable cameras for guests to take candid pictures with, and some boxes for people to put slips of paper in with date ideas or advice for the couple. At around 9PM, a bunch of pizzas were delivered so everyone could catch their second wind! Everyone had to be gone by 11PM, so things started to wind down with music and such at 10:30PM. There were folks around to help people order a Lyft or Uber if they weren't okay to drive back home or to their hotels.
Anyway, feel free to comment if your character might have attended and what they may have gotten themselves up to! Lots of people from Dunhaven were invited for one reason or another, so I'm sure we can figure out a reason one way or another for people to have scored an invitation!
