Who: Cloud, Red and Solace What: They ain't afraid of no ghosts! When: Late Saturday, early Sunday Where: Deling City Rating: PG13
Following a long day split between exhaustively boring travel and later enjoying the Greer family's hospitality to its fullest extent, Red felt more than ready to try her luck at paranormal investigation. The midnight hour was close at hand, presenting a window of opportunity between 12 and 3 a.m. said to be rife with supernatural activity in many versions of folklore. Checking the scene at night was one of the controls in their little experiment, having already seen it during the morning rush. Fortunately their SeeD affiliation went a long way in granting overnight access with blessedly little need for explanations as to why. Causing a stir before confirming anything unusual would have definitely counted as unprofessional.
Hopping out of Solace's sleek family vehicle just as soon as it pulled to a stop, Red popped the trunk and proceeded to rummage it for tonight's armaments of choice. Parapsychology wasn't a particularly well respected field of science, but it was a science nevertheless. To that end she managed to track down a hobbyist within Balamb willing to part with his toys -- ahem, with his tools in return for a date. Red hastily mumbled a noncommittal 'maybe' before retreating with his sound recorders, night vision camera and EMF readers in tow. Most of which she didn't actually know how to operate. Oh well, she figured. Nothing a little trial and error couldn't remedy!
Their footsteps echoed throughout cavernous hallways as the trio made their way into Deling City's train station. It was a typically grandiose fixture and would have looked pristine despite its age if not for heavily vandalized advertisements lining nearly every wall. Men with squiggly mustaches and unsightly moles; women with their teeth blacked out and the occasional pirate eye patch. Novice rebellion, the lot of it, that provided testament to Deling's cultural divide. Those with money undoubtedly had a lot of say in the station's upkeep, and those without lashed out in what few petty ways were available to them.
"Places like these are so creepy when they're empty." Red commented. That wasn't to say that she was scared, thank you very much. It was an objective assessment. Establishments that saw heavy traffic during the day were inherently eerie once darkened and deserted for the night. Glances through her borrowed lens revealed everything in unflattering greens and whites, and rather made her group appear ghostly in and of themselves. "Smile for the camera?" she requested of Solace and Cloud. Note that she wasn't holding her breath.
