One could say that this was all Queza was waiting, practically asking for: some progress into an otherwise tedious rehearsal. She couldn't begin to imagine what Nanaki was thinking, asking her to come out of her comfort zone where she operated best (best kept her knives off Al-Cid's ass) but anyway she should prove him wrong.
Light flashed right under the mantis' nose as it moved to lunge onto the mark which later broke out into a frantic web of pain which served both to electrocute, stun and burn the screaming insect. It was a better attack than her knives could be, two of which she'd sent flying towards the flapping leather wings. One of them tore past one of those appendages, the other met the target right on its full belly.
To gain a better aim at the other two bats towards the back, Queza reappeared in front of the group, dangling like a monkey, and flinging out two more knives, this time of Mjrn's make. One hit the target without its intended instant death, the other flew straight to a bush. "Shit!" she hissed, disappearing back into her leafy cover. The bat who'd missed thought it well to look for her.
"Borrow!" asked the tree as she tapped into Al-Cid's spell reserve.
