Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, students and faculty of Balamb Garden.
For those of you who do not know me, I am Edea Kramer. My husband and I founded the Gardens almost twenty five years ago. The SeeD project was a labor of love and necessity, and I am beyond amazed at the talent that this institution continues to foster. I can confidently say that the realization of Garden has surpassed any dream I had all those years ago. I look around and I see community. I see life, joy, determination, belonging, and the pursuit of dreams and aspirations. I am repeatedly humbled at the work that is done here, the young lives fostered and the greatness that you all climb toward. You bring it out in each other and that, truly, is how the Garden grows and thrives.
It has been five years since I last stepped through the gates of Balamb Garden. I said that I felt the leadership here was strong enough that my guidance was no longer needed so I left to pursue my philanthropic endeavors in Galbadia and Trabia. I stand by that statement, and all I have to do is look around to see the fruits of Headmaster Leonhart and Deputy Headmistress Trepe's administration. This is more of a respite than an undertaking of any official capacity. There are many new faces here, both staff and student alike, that I would like to meet. And, of course, plenty of old friends, too. For, as I am sure many of you would agree, Garden is not just an educational institution. It is home.
