Alicia’s apartment feels small, even with the kids gone. Especially so. They should be here where she can keep an eye on them.
She has enough wine to last her, work to be getting on with.
But in the gaps, those small delays as video screens catch up, the pause before the beep of a voicemail, she senses him. As if he has been there all along, waiting for her to realise the distance between them is negligible.
With relief, she invites him back in, luxuriates in her isolation. Now she can switch off the world, and find Will again.
