It was the perfect holiday, just as advertised.
On some level she was aware that something wasn’t right but the pieces that assembled in her mind never moved towards alignment.
She dosed comfortably, the safety belt a reassuring hold around her waist as she dreamt. Visions of sandy beaches and warm nights with millions of stars filled her mind, new people who were amusing and charming, insightful and attentive.
Occasionally a member of the crew would wake her to offer her a drink or a snack with the reassurance that the captain was waiting for the signal for take off.
