Drabble Day 2019: A Time-Bending Insanity of Results
THE TIME HAS COME TO ANNOUNCE THE RESULTS.
So who's gonna announce them?
[That would be you, April! You volunteered and everything!]
Oh. But I don't wanna.
[SIGH. Note to selves, our intern vetting process next year will be MUCH stricter. Okay, any other volunteers? Please?]
[OH for the love of... BEN! Could you help us out again, please?]
[You... did do the numbers, right, Ben? Please tell us you did the numbers.
[OMG. You seriously didn't do the numbers?! WHY DO WE HIRE INTERNS??]
[Oh thank fuck.]
RIGHT! So me and my accountant buddies have OBVIOUSLY crunched some numbers and we have some results for you!
Now, this is an interesting year in that due to crazy timing and double-booking with some event I am informed involves a lot of bad singing and exploding stage designs and everyone is into it for some reason...? anyway, due to that and other scheduling conflicts, Drabble Day 2019 had an unusually condensed number of participants (a total of 7) AND the event was reduced from its usual 24 to only (ONLY HAHAHA) 20 hours, and also the mods decided to spice it up by doing double prompts (I quizzed them on this choice at Hour 16 and they responded, brokenly, "Why? Why?").
Considering these circumstances, please understand exactly what I am saying when I tell you that you guys DID THE IMPOSSIBLE. The total number of drabbles produced this year was 199, which, while smaller than last year's, if proper adjustments are made for the smaller number of participants and shorter amount of time while filling TWICE the number of prompts, is in every way record-breaking.
You have produced drabbles for 49 fandoms, which are as follows:
Alles was zählt, Avatar – The Last Airbender, Band Sinister, Black Sails, Bluestone 42,The Borgias, Brideshead Revisited, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Captive Prince, Docto rWho, Druck, Fence, Gentleman Jack, The Good Place, Ghosts (BBC), The Happy Prince, Hark - A Vagrant, Harlots, Harry Potter, How To Get Away With Murder, Infinity Wars, In Other Lands, Les Misérables, The Lord of the Rings, The Magicians, Nashville, Original fic, Parks & Recreation, The Persian Boy, Persuasion, Please Like Me, Pride & Prejudice, Queer As Folk (UK), The Rain Wilds Chronicles, The Raven Cycle, Robin Hood (BBC), Sense8, Schitt’s Creek, The Shoebox Project, Spartacus, Star Wars, Supergirl, Star Gate Atlantis, Teen Wolf, Temeraire, Thirst Aid Kit, The Umbrella Academy, Warchild, You.
And now for the individual achievements:
Leading with number of most drabbles written this year is aldiara at 65 drabbles... wait, what? That can't be right. Wasn't she modding? And posting prompts? And on Twitter? And commenting? And chatting with her co-host? Okay, I am informed she is currently under audit for time-bending fraud. Chris and I will handle that. [Note to selves: Read In Other Lands.]
In second place this year is amyriadfthings, with 37 drabbles. Considering she was just coming off a highly intense fandom experience and, as far as we know, also did not sleep, those were some inhuman emotions-channelling feats right there, and she made us feel every single one of those feels! [Note to selves: Watch Druck.]
In (very, very close) third place is lilithilien with 36 drabbles, also bending the space-time continuum with modding/prompting/drabbling/chatting/twi
Next up at 27 drabbles, we have spaghettitoes, who reminded us all of when Teen Wolf was amazing, feels-inducing, cracky fun with one of the most promosing ships of all time, and also made us insanely curious about her original WIP! Get writing so we can read the whole damn thing!
Close behind is amo_amas_amat, who somehow managed to make enough time to write 23 drabbles whilst stuck at a family function involving toddler birthdays. THIS SHOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE, and yet Anna continued her yearly tradition of coming up with a really cool period theme and killing us all with the ensuing drabble sequence. Anne de Bourgh/Charlotte Lucas 4EVAH.
Then we have notoriouslyuniq with 10 drabbles, managing to sneak away from her massive manuscript-editing funk for long enough to give us kitty crack, Gannicus feels, and Ron/Hermione guh-lols.
And finally, there's alsha, who not only provided a mod with much-needed sustenance after a gruelling 13-hour ambulance shift, but also managed to sneak in 1 drabble.
Don't forget, if you're not done reading/commenting, here is the Masterlist for easier reference.
Now, as the mods have repeatedly reminded me, there are no physical prizes, but since all the interns have already been on a mad gif-gathering hunt anyway, we thought we'd have a little fun with some (very very simplified) specially designed formulas to represent what each participant brought to Drabble Day this year. Because accountants know how to bring the fun!
[*groan* Uh, Ben? Can't we just... wrap it?]
Nope! Here we go! MATHS-ish!
Alsha:
( + + ) / =
Diana:
=> + + + +
Anna:
+ => : + + =
Christine:
+ = { + + + } /
Inga:
[ + ] => ( + ) / ( + )+ =
Lil:
[ + ] => ( + + ) = { + }
Aldi:
( + ) => [ + + + ] /
Aaaaaand that's it for this year! You have all been stellar, please return next year!
