For an instant Mia looked at Landon like he was crazy, then shook her head at herself. Landon wouldn't know we were friends before, stupid, she admonished herself. "Actually, yeah," she said as she walked closer. Smiling at Juan--the only person who ever really saw her honestly smile anymore-- she helped herself to one of the slices. She explained between bites. "It's crazy, but we've known each other since... what... middle school at least right? We went to school together and we performed together a lot."
She moved so that Juan could get to the melon as well--nobody should stand between a teenage boy and food, she thought wryly as she jumped up onto the counter herself. "When you said there was someone my age here, pretty much the first thing I did was see if it was him. It was kind of a crazy hope, but... it was true, so yay." The corner of her mouth twitched slightly upward.
