Alex may have well been pretty fit, all things considering, but the weight of his bag and his continuous sprint was beginning to wear on him. His legs screamed for a break but he kept pushing himself, panic setting in as his adrenaline rush seemed to be fading, most likely caused from a combination of sleep and food deprivation. How could he be so stupid as to keep both his rifle and gun in an inaccessible spot?
He risked a glance to his side where his gun was...supposed to be. Oh great, he must've lost it while he rolled away from the truck. That only left his rifle which was securely strapped to his back. He was a dead man for sure. Turning his head back, his steps faltered upon seeing a woman with a gun aimed in his general direction, allowing the monster ample time to catch up. It dug its claws into Alex's bag and lifted him off the ground while advancing toward Reiko. Alex instinctively brought his arms up to protect his face as the monster swung him around to take a bite and squeezed his eyes shut as he expected it to be the end of him but instead he heard the creature scream.
Alex opened his eyes and barely caught a glimpse of what happened before the monster had dropped him unceremoniously to the ground. He stood, shaking and nearly fell again before regaining his feet and backed up away from the monster. "What the Hell was that?" he asked himself and, realizing that he was heading toward the woman, he looked back and made sure he was a safe distance away from her. He could really only handle panicking over one thing at a time and at this point, he would rather not get caught by the monster again. "If you're going to shoot at it again," he told her in a somewhat broken British accent while keeping his eyes on the monster and continued to back away. "Now would be a good time." Unfortunately he did not have enough time to unlatch his rifle before the monster recuperated and began to advance on them again. "On second thought...run."
