Re: [Adult] VIP Area
Seattle had been so full of bad things that it wouldn't have been hard for him to become the one good thing in the midst of it all, but Luke kept that particular thought to himself. This was something they would never, ever agree upon, and he was too drunk on both alcohol and her to start arguing now. "One of the good things," he amended with a lazy slur. "Not the only one. You were the best thing that happened to me, though. I don't know what my life would be like if I hadn't met you." Maybe he would still be in New York, alone, working for Thomas as he'd been before. It wasn't even working for him, really, but he didn't want to think about that. Not now. Her confession sent warm tingles of pleasure down his spine, and he pulled her against him, a wordless embrace that said more than he was capable of.
"Don't make fun of my terrible memory," he whined, giving her a playful nudge in response to her teasing. He would have argued that he was sure, as he'd told her before, but her fingers against his lips made him still, and he simply sighed instead. "Okay. You don't have to pretend any of that, though," he said, unable to keep the words back. "It's already true." She didn't believe that, he knew, but for tonight he decided to pretend she did, and he tugged her forward on the seemingly endless trek to the elevator. Their path led them through the crowd, which parted to let them pass, though not without catcalls, whistles, and a few shouted comments that would have made his teenage self blush and simply made him scowl into the sea of faces instead. "Come on," he muttered, his arm around her waist tightening. He was going to regret the lack of privacy in the morning.
