Re: [Adult] VIP Area
She made a soft sound when he apologized, a not your fault without words, because she didn't want him blaming himself for anything, not from back then. They'd had it hard enough, and she'd just made it worse by leaving when she did, and she wasn't going to let him carry the weight for something that wasn't his fault. "No," she managed, a whispered command against his lips. "Not your fault. You're the only good thing about Seattle." That wasn't entirely true. There was MK, and there was Jack, and there were people left behind, like Gwen and the boy who had died. But he was the one thing she couldn't live without, the one thing that had changed her life, made it about something other than just surviving day to day. "You're the only reason I'm not doing what I used to do; the only reason I ever thought there could be something more for me." It was a slurred but heartfelt confession, and her eyes went damp with the words. His lopsided grin earned him a quick kiss, fast and impulsive.
She shook her head exaggeratedly when he said he wasn't the only one who could be infuriating. "You are very, very bad at remembering things," she told him, but she was smiling, and there was obviously no anger there. She knew him well enough to know he didn't mean anything by it. That didn't mean she wouldn't tease him about it, though. She tipped her head when he said he wished she would stay, and she looked at him as she ran her fingers over his cheek. "There's nothing I want more than to wake up with you and watch you open your eyes in the morning," she said, slur-honest. "But I want that once we're sober, once you're sure." She put her fingers to his lips before he could argue with her, and she leaned against him when he pulled her close. "For tonight," she said against his warm skin, "I'll take falling asleep beside you and pretending you're mine, and that you've always been mine, and that you'll always be mine."
