Re: By the Bar
His steadying hand surprised her more than the fact that she'd teetered, effectively distracting her from wanting to know about what was going on. Any kind of distraction was a welcome one and she realized, a bit belatedly, that this was the first time she'd actually seen Silver in a while, since he'd gotten knifed if she remembered correctly. Think too hard wasn't high on her list of things to do though, so she didn't chase that thought too hard. It did remind her that he was injured though and she looked at him a bit more closely. The effort was likely reflected in her expression, but she hardly noticed.
"Are you okay?" she asked, and it was probably a little out of the blue considering how serious she sounded in comparison to her cheery playfulness of just minutes before. She knew it wasn't because of her, how could it when they barely spent any time together and communicated primarily after some big insanity happened that required checking in on people who mattered. Besides her family and a handful of clients, she didn't really have anyone to check in on besides him and even that could be brushed off as her checking in on him for Pepper's sake.
She was appeased by the action alone, hardly caring if he sipped or gulped, and drank some more of her martini before pulling one of the olives off the spear with her teeth. It took her a moment to recall that Silver drove Ms Maheu around for her business and she nodded. "They would've blown it out of proportion. People tend to do that when kids are involved. Unfortunate, but it all worked out in the end. That's the important part." She would have helped, if he'd asked, but he hadn't, so she didn't. It was very hard to have anything separate from work but she was trying at least. That had to count for something. "Scared my sister half to death though, and now I know why. Turns out that guy she was with? Suspected of being the head of some criminal organization. La Gramma? No, Las Gramma. That one." She had more information, not much, but enough to get started at least. Whatever it was Hailey had gotten involved in, it was bad.
